Madliena Cemetery

More than 200-year-old Madliena Cemetery has many exciting stories. It is the burial place of Kārlis Hūns (1830–1877) – one of the most significant Baltic artists of the 19th century, the pioneer of the historical genre in Latvian painting. Here you can also visit the final resting places of Andrejs Balodis, the founder of Madliena Herrnhuter congregation, wood sculptor Jānis Vērītis and other noteworthy natives of Madliena.
