Poetry Oaks
Address | Kaibala, Lielvārde, Ogre municipality |
Description | The Kaibala estuary at the Daugava was once home to God’s oaks which were considered sacred. They were immortilized in the poem “Dievozolu trijotne” (Trinity of Holy oaks) by the poet Auseklis. At a meeting of the staff of the Andrejs Pumpurs Museum, it was decided to renew the oaks that Auseklis wrote about and call them Poetry Oaks. On September 21, 1971 three oaks were planted: one by members the Pumpurs family, another by a group of poets and writers, and the third by representatives of the farm “Lāčplēsis”. |
