Rembate Park

Address Rembate Park, Lielvārde, Ogre municipality
Description

Rembate Park is 11 ha large protected nature area of national significance. The park was originally developed as a landscape area around the Rembate Manor. The pond in the center of the park surrounds a small island accessible on foot. The island was named Spīdala Island in 1968 (a character in “Lāčplēsis”). Spīdala Island and the park as a whole serve as the venue for many and varied events. On July 25, 2015 the “Seat of Honor” for Pauls Kvelde, Head Conductor of many Latvian Song and Dance Festivals, was unveiled in the Park. Second chair was unveiled in honor of Vera and Arveds Paegle, master weavers and designers of the Lielvarde belt. Tradition continues. “Seat of Honor” was installed for a playwrighter Gunārs Priede and  ornithologist Kārlis Grigulis. The author of both chairs is metal artist Aldis Lambergs.
