Free audio guide is available in Ogre

The mobile application Ogres novadnieks offers a FREE audio guide with 179 stories about the most interesting places, historical events and personalities of the Ogre region, narrated by Jēkabs Reinis, the actor of the National Theatre of Latvia. Thus, every smartphone owner can enjoy an educational tour of the Ogre Municipality using a “personal guide” in their device.

Audioguide OgreThe stories in the audio guide have been produced in collaboration with the Ogre History and Art Museum and local history researchers. Several stories are dedicated to the Ogre resort of the 1920s and 1930s and tell us about the surviving summer cottages, their inhabitants, actors, artists and other public figures.

The mobile application Ogres novadnieks also includes historical photographs from the collections of the Ogre History and Art Museum and the Latvian Railway History Museum. For instance, the mobile application features photos of the former Riga – Ērgļi railway line (the present Greenways route) from the time it was opened and had a regular train service.

To listen to the audio guide stories, download the free mobile application Ogres novadnieks. Look for the objects in the list or on the map in the section Tourism, or enter a word combination or part of the word in the search engine, and receive the relevant results. The audio guide stories are available in Latvian and English.

The Tourism section allows to obtain information about the places of interest, recreational activities, creative workshops and cafes in Ogre Municipality. Choose the categories or search for objects based on their location. It is also possible to get acquainted with cycling and walking routes.
